We are so excited to welcome Hannah Jarvis to the Worlds Better team!
Hannah is joining us as a Junior Event Sustainability Consultant bringing solid event delivery and project management experience and a wonderful passion for sustainability.
Hannah began her career journey in 2019 after graduating from university, where she studied Event Management. Beginning as an event project co-ordinator, learning the ropes of operational management throughout the pandemic and taking the requirement to learn how to successfully manage virtual events in her stride, she managed large programmes and a variety of pharmaceutical sponsors. Hannah went on to become a project manager, looking after the annual meetings and member engagement programmes of a variety of associations across the UK and internationally, covering a range of industries and specialties.
It was whilst managing these events, her focus on sustainable development within the events industry truly grew, leading her to Worlds Better.
Get to know Hannah What attracted you to Worlds Better?
Worlds Better is amplifying the importance of sustainability in the events industry to provide practical support and expertise to spearhead radical change. The work that Chrissie and the team have pioneered with students, agencies, brands and events so far is incredible, and I am grateful to be learning from the team whilst adding my voice to champion sustainability across the industry and make real change.
What do you enjoy doing?
I am a planner through-and-through and I love telling stories in my work, whether it be problems solved creatively, or data and numbers.
How did you become passionate about sustainability?
On one of my first ever site visits, a venue salesperson informed our event team that there would be carpets installed in the exhibition hall for the benefit of our 3-day event, and would then be scrapped in landfill immediately after, with no re-use plan. I spent a lot of time on the train home regretting not asking more about that point. This then spurred me on to question so many other common unsustainable standards in events and how quickly things need to change. When the opportunity came up to work at Worlds Better, I was thrilled to be part of a team making significant change, for the better.
Tell us a fun fact about you!
I consider myself a bit of a chocolate brownie aficionado. Between recipes or trialling them at any bakery, market or restaurant I can find, they bring me joy.
