Course Overview

​Delivering Sustainable Events is an online, self-paced course that gives event professionals the knowledge, skills and confidence to embed sustainability into every stage of planning and delivery.

You’ll get one year’s access to five on-demand chapters (≈8 hours), monthly virtual workshops with our course leaders, a curated reading & watching list, and membership of an active peer community. You’ll also hear from leading voices including Anna Abdelnoor, Gabby Austen-Browne, Lee Cooper and Jennie Mossman.

What you will learn

Our engaging modules cover:

  • Application of core sustainability frameworks to real event scenarios.

  • Explain climate science and carbon literacy concepts (Scopes 1–3, Net Zero, offsetting) and why they matter in events.

  • Measure & report on environmental, social and economic impacts, using a step-by-step approach to data gathering, verification and event emissions.

  • Design environmentally responsible, circular events (including considerations around energy reduction, material use, catering, waste strategy, biodiversity considerations).

  • Integrate governance and deliver positive social value (DE&I, accessibility, ethical supply chains, wellbeing, legacy).

Course duration and structure

  • Format: Self-paced, on-demand learning hosted in our online hub.

  • Access: 12 months to revisit materials anytime.

  • Content: 5 chapters (≈8 hours) covering frameworks, climate & carbon literacy, environmental sustainability, social/economic sustainability & governance, and impact measurement.

  • Live touchpoints: Monthly virtual workshops for Q&A and deep dives.

  • Extras: Curated resources, interviews with industry experts, and a supportive online community.

Learn from our course leader Chrissie Beck, a sustainability leader with 20+ years in live events and founder of Worlds Better, a B Corp consultancy helping agencies, brands and suppliers turn ambition into action. She has led sustainability for event industry businesses and large scale international events. She is a qualified Carbon Literacy Trainer, and has been a Sustainability Lecturer with The Event Academy for over 4 years.
