Delivering Sustainable Events Training Course

In partnership with the Event Academy, Worlds Better have developed a comprehensive training course ‘Delivering Sustainable Events’. Delivering Sustainable Events provides experienced event managers with all the valuable knowledge and skills they need to deliver holistically sustainable events.

What is the course about?

This course helps experienced event managers learn the foundations of sustainability, how to apply sustainable practices to event delivery, how to measure the impact of an event, how to review performance to continually improve and inform best practice and more. The course provides tangible insights, comprehensive knowledge and practical application of your learnings; enabling event managers to deliver successful events, sustainably. 

What does the course cover?

Over 60 learning hours the training covers:

  • An introduction to sustainability

  • ​Climate change and carbon literacy

  • Social & economic sustainability

  • Environmental sustainability practices

  • Measuring the impact of events

  • Sustainable supply chain & procurement

  • Overcoming challenges and problem solving

  • Influencing stakeholders and influencing behaviour change

  • Storytelling and avoiding greenwashing

  • Sustainability certifications/accreditations

  • Writing sustainability objectives and a sustainability management plan

  • Conducting an event sustainability audit

  • Using learnings for continual improvement

How long does the course take to complete?

The course will take learners 12 weeks in total. 

Our on demand and virtual learning modules are around 3 hours a week for 9 weeks, then 3 consecutive days face to face in the 10th week. 

Once all modules are complete learners will take an assessment and write a dissertation with a goal to apply learnings from the course to their specific role and industry in the 11th and 12th week.

Who wrote and teaches the course?

The course is developed and taught by qualified and experienced trainers, including Worlds Better Founder and Event Sustainability Director Chrissie Beck, who will comprehensively teach learners to be able to manage sustainability in event delivery. Our lecturers have experienced in both delivering live events and in sustainability consultancy.

Who is the course for?

This course is for event managers with 2-3 years' experience in any company type or industry, namely Corporate Event Managers, Event Agency Staff, Supplier and Venue Staff.

What certifications will I gain once I complete the course?

The course is endorsed by the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project. On completion of the course learners will be Carbon Literate.
